Organized by project, the Codex app keeps each agent thread’s context and progress visible, so you can switch instantly without losing the thread—while staying in control through reviewable diffs, built-in Git tools, and worktrees for isolating changes.
Models (OpenAI): gpt-5.2-codex, gpt-5.1-codex-mini, plus gpt-5.1-codex-max, gpt-5.2, gpt-5.1, gpt-5.1-codex, gpt-5-codex, gpt-5-codex-mini, and gpt-5. (Codex can also be configured to use other models/providers that support the OpenAI Responses API.)
Codex is currently free for a limited time and is available to all openai users.
