Manuscripts is a writing tool for complex documents: it helps with the entire process of writing up complex work, from outlining the paper to the editing, proofreading and publishing stages, all from within one beautiful experience. Manuscripts is a word processor re-imagined to take a lot of mechanical formatting work off the author’s shoulders, so he or she can focus on the substance of one’s work. We top the editing features with a fully version-controlled file format and flexible import and export options. Our design packs in an unprecedented range of functionality, including multi-figure panels, table editing and equations, as well as a top-of-the-line citation workflow, all in one unified experience. The application imports and exports MS Word, LaTeX, Markdown and HTML.
What's New
Version 1.2.6:New:
- NEW! PDF formatted figures inserted to the document are now retained as PDF (not rasterised), also when exported to both Word and LaTeX.
- NEW! Adds the ability to duplicate a manuscript, applying a different template to it.
- NEW! Adds the ability to change the figure size.
- NEW! Adds the ability to format the author list.
- NEW! Adds dissertation templates: you are now able to "build" a dissertation template from "File > New With Template".
- NEW! Adds "File > Merge Changes From…" to pull changes from another copy of the manuscript - e.g. your supervisor's or collaborator's copy of the manuscript (this is the first stage of full document synchronisation).
- NEW! You can now enclose any QuickLook previewable files together with the manuscript and see a preview in the editor: Excel spreadsheets as tables, SVG or EPS files as figures, etc.
- NEW! Format > Extract > Extract Identifiers to extract citations from PubMed IDs in your paper. This feature is really a starting point for a whole suite of entity extraction features, and we very much welcome your requests for additional abilities to extract information (such as citations, but not necessarily just those) entered in plain text in your manuscript!
